Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America, with 67% believing that the nation is nearing civil war, according to a new national survey.
“The majority of Americans believe that we are two-thirds of the way to being on the edge of civil war. That to me is a very pessimistic place,” said Mo Elleithee, the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The Andrew Klavan Show,” Klavan talks about a Texas dad who is losing a legal battle to protect his 7-year-old son from his mother, who wants her son to be a girl. Video and partial transcript below:
I want to be careful about this story [from Texas] because I only have it from one side. I have it from Life Site News, which of course, is a very powerful pro-life site. I know, I’ve covered trials as a reporter, and I know that what people hear in the jury box is not what people hear when they read the newspaper. On Monday, a jury ruled against a Texas father, Jeffrey Younger, attempting to stop his seven-year-old son from a gender transition being facilitated by Dr. Anne Georgulas, the boy’s mother and Younger’s ex-wife.
“With a consensus of 11 of the 12 jurors, the jury decided not to grant Mr. Younger Sole Managing Conservatorship over his two twin boys,” LifeSiteNews reported Monday. “They voted that the current Joint Managing Conservatorship should be replaced by a Sole Managing Conservatorship, but that Mr. Younger should not be that person.”
A group of at least 25 Hindu extremists attacked Christians attending the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Baburia Kheda, Uttar Pradesh state, located in Northern India.
Last month, radicals assaulted innocent civilians who had gathered to worship. The attackers did not spare women, children, or the elderly as they charged into neighboring homes seeking to murder lead Pastor Kamlesh Kumar, who was successfully hidden away, Morning Star News reports.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, youth suicide is in the midst of a precipitous and frightening rise. Between 2006 and 2016, suicides by white children between ages 10 and 17 skyrocketed 70%; while black children are less likely than white children to kill themselves, their suicide rate also jumped 77%. And as The Blaze points out, CNN reported last year that “the suicide rate among girls between the ages of 15 and 19 rose to a 40-year high in 2015.”
