Pope Francis appeared to break from the Roman Catholic Church when he came out in support of same-sex civil unions \u2014 sparking curiosity Wednesday about whether his beliefs could be flawed.<\/p>\n

In his statement,\u00a0the Holy Father proclaimed<\/a>\u00a0that what \u201cwe have to create is a civil union law\u201d so homosexual couples are \u201clegally covered,\u201d prompting scores of Google searches about whether he\u2019s considered \u201cinfallible\u201d by the church.<\/p>\n

The religious term \u2014 which means incapable of preaching flawed doctrines \u2014 has for centuries held true for the pope,\u00a0according to Catholic.com<\/a>, which quoted scripture.<\/p>\n

\u201cInfallibility belongs in a special way to the pope as head of the bishops.
