In the odd animals hall of fame, this little piggy takes the cake.

Pigs are a sign of fertility in China, and in the Year of the Pig, this piglet got more than his fair share, being born with two mouths, two noses and three eyes.
Liu Shuping, a farmer specialising in raising pigs, presented the new-born piglet in Xi an, in north-west China’s Shannxi province yesterday.
But it’s not unique. Only last month there were reports of a pig being born in Quanzhou in East China’s Fujian province with two mouths and four eyes.

Don’t throw your pearls to swine. The pictured pig is grotesque, just like all of the people who believe satans lie that the year of the pig has some spiritual significance. Women are getting pregnant because they feel that they and their children will be blessed, because a child is born under the sign of the pig. It is amazing that people really think something like a stinking barn yard animal is good for anything more than food. The same people think that a rat and snakes also have spirtual significance. I wonder if their high priest is the Orkin Man.
C.M. Boyer says Comment posted on April 09th, 2007
For Steve: Pigs are not stinking, nor are they especially good for human food. Keep in mind that God created animals initially not to be consumed, slaughtered, and especially not to be mistreated. When God’s Word talks a lot about a subject–as Genesis does animals–God is showing the inner workings of His heart/mind to us. Animals are obviously important to God, and this should be significant to us. One of the main reasons–if not the main reason–that animal-born diseases which are lethal or destructive to humans (bird flu, swine flu, mad-cow, and even AIDS, which initiated in monkeys) occur is due to man’s maltreatment of animals. Recently, a fire captain in Arizona, who claimed “born-again” faith was arrested for bestiality with his neighbor’s sheep. (Interstingly, an on-line news source recently reported that by a 3 to 1 ratio the men in prison for child molestation claim “born again” faith, with their excuse being “God put that child in my path.” It is not the above-captioned pig that stinks.

GOD’s grace is so amazing, & HIS forgiveness so complete; that to those who repent & accept HIS Son, Christ Jesus, as their LORD & Savior, GOD has promised:
“HE hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, [so] great is HIS mercy toward them that fear HIM. As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath HE removed our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 103:10-12
Such a wonderful relief it is to know that GOD’s ability & desire to forgive & forget is sooooooo much greater than ours! And, because HE knows the end from the beginning, our sins contain no “shock value” to HIM. So when satan is relentless in his accusations, a truly repentant heart can find solace in Psalm 103!
To those who will; receive GOD Almighty’s lovingkindness and tender mercies, in Jesus most holy name I pray, amen.
Thank you Jesus for all You’ve done for us.

As to swine in scripture. God considered them unclean and told people not to eat them. The reason is logical as pork has more fat than any other meat and spoils faster than beef and sheep. They didn’t have freezers then. Even today, scientists admit that pork is unhealthy for you. Only the pork sellers say otherwise.
There were many things not clean. One reason for his commands was to see if we would follow them. Have we?

For C. M. Boyer: Could you please cite your “online news source”. What is its journalistic credibility rating? Please tell us where and when did it conduct or obtain the statistic you quote that; “…by a 3 to 1 ratio the men in prison for child molestation claim ‘born again’ faith…”?
While I find such a statistic horribly unsettling at first hearing, without such referencing your comment lacks any credibility and as such should be ignored.

Pork isn’t especially bad for you, it’s just not as lean as beef or poultry or seafood. Like everything, it’s good in moderation. I don’t believe in the Chinese astrology thin myself, I think it’s a pile, but hey, as long as Chinese women are getting pregnant at all, that’s fine by me. As for the pigs and kosher thing: there’s a funny story behind that, don’t ask me how I know this, but the Jews thought pigs were unclean because the Egyptians deified the pig and thought it was sacred, and we all know that the Jews and the Egyptians were having their problems.
Mim says Comment posted on November 10th, 2007
Oh, also, pigs are the third smartest land mammals–after humans and apes. Hee hee. The only reason they roll in mud is the same reason elephants do–they don’t have sweat glands, so they need to regulate their body temperature somehow. Why doesn’t anyone thing elephants are dirty, hmmm?
Remnant says Comment posted on November 10th, 2007
Dear Mim
As for the pigs and kosher thing:
Jews believe that the pig is unclean not from some fairy tale or funny story. unless you believe G_D’s word is a funny story. In the dietary laws give by G_D it says not to eat. The Egyptians worshiped almost every animal in their country.
Of the “beasts of the earth” (which basically refers to land mammals with the exception of swarming rodents), you may eat any animal that has cloven hooves and chews its cud:
Any land mammal that does not have both of these qualities is forbidden. The Torah specifies that the camel, the rock badger, the hare and the pig are not kosher because each lacks one of these two qualifications. Sheep, cattle, goats, deer and bison are kosher.
Lev. 11:3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
Lev. 11:4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
Lev. 11:5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
Lev. 11:6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
Lev. 11:7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. ;
Deut. 14:6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
Deut. 14:7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
Deut. 14:8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase. .
The fact that G_D considers pork to be unclean is enough, but consider that pork contains a toxin that is accumulative and cannot be expelled from the human body. Pork also is the only known substance that antidotes every remedy in the Homeopathic Mateira Medica.
Hogs are smart and they do have 4 sweat glands one between each hoof which is usually clogged with mud and waste.
I don’t know of any “elephant farmers†that raise elephants for slaughter.
But there was a village the country of the Gadarenes, mentioned in the gospel’s of Mark chapter 5 and Luke chapter 8 with the story of Yeshua casting the demons out of the man and allowing them to inhabit the swine raised in that country. Note something very important: the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear. They were not keeping G-D’s law concerning the eating or touching of swine.
In the end G_D knows what’s best for His creation to eat and the diet of Torah observant people is very healthy. That’s Torah/Old Testament not Talmudic/Oral Torah restrictions.

The one that went to market? The one that stayed home?
Or is he the one that went Weeeeeeeee all the way home?
I think he’s the one that had NOT one, but, apparantly two helpings of
Roast Beef!
God did tell Peter(a Jew) he could eat anything by the way,
in that vision of a heavenly smorgasborg he saw in the book of ACTS.
Personally I love pork chops with gravy and applesauce, mmm…
And an ice cold Guiness. Oops! I better be careful someone might think I’m not a christian if I have a beer now and again.
Happy Thanksgiving! Ya’ll.

We tend to eat things that are far worse than pork. Notice too that God told Noah that “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.” The only restriction was to not eat the blood. I think Noah was under Grace much as we are. Pauls admontion was to avoid eating things sacrificed to Idols. If we are under Grace all things are permissable but not necessarily profitable. I think most of us know that if we offend our brother we are sinning against him and God. So, eating pork in front of a Messianic Jew would be offensive.
I don’t think it has much to do with the health benefits of the food but rather the motivation for eating it. Most seafood is also unclean but you rarely hear anyone talking about it being against the law. Only pork because to many it is either unclean or sacred.
Why do we try and put ourselves under the law? It is the law that condemns us. It seems that we want some type of structure so that we can follow it. I find this interesting as I do it too.

hey remnant!
you are a veritable walking encyclopedia!
:~D
i didn’t know that hogs had sweat glands between their hooves… nor did i know that pork contained an accumulative toxin…
even though i love pork chops, i stopped eating pork (and serving it to my kids) a couple of years ago… i figured God knew what He was talking about, even though i didn’t understand the details… sometimes it’s like that: you follow God’s Word even though you might not understand His reasons… it’s always nice to know the reasons, but it’s not a requirement in following His Word…
i know there is a similar prohibition regarding types of fish and seafood… again, i don’t understand all the reasons why, but i do know that some of the prohibited seafood are bottom feeders…
as for pigs, they may be intelligent, but that doesn’t mean i want them on my plate…
:~)
btw, are you saying that pork counteracts all homeopathic remedies?…
(that’s a scary thought)
thanks for all the info, remnant!

Mim surprises me. The Egyptians worshipped bulls rather than pigs, that did not stop the Hebrews eating them!
I have heard many ideas, but that was a new one for me.
As far as I am concerned, God said we should not eat pig. If it pleases Him, that’s enough for me.

Dear Aneriz
I didn’t catch your question until today.
“Pork also is the only known substance that antidotes every remedy in the Homeopathic Mateira Medica.â€
What does this means and why is it bad?
Pork make every remedy null and void, thus shutting down the effect of the remedy’s ability to address and correct the disorder. While perfume, menthol, coffee, and tobacco antidote some of the remedies. Pork is the only one that antidote’s every one of them.
I hope this answers your question, sorry about the delay

Dear Lance
The only reason I’m posting is the misunderstanding of the few verses you mentioned. To many times, unbelievers point to this verse as a contradiction in the Bible, denouncing the infallibility of scripture.
Please reread the entire story in Acts Chapter 10:9 -11:18, you’ll find it has nothing to do with the dietary laws at all.
Acts 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Acts 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
four corners, and let down to the earth Let down from heaven by four corners and filled with clean and unclean creatures, illustrating that G_D wills to save both Jews and Gentiles (Acts 10:34-35; 11:1-18; 15:7-13).
Acts 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
kill, and eat Literally, sacrifice and eat. Since Jews and Gentiles were represented by the animals, showing how G_D would also save the Gentiles, it was Peter’s duty to preach to both. G_D was illustrating and emphasizing to Peter that the middle wall of partition was broken down. Already about eight years had gone by and the gospel had been withheld from Gentiles (Eph. 2:14-16). It was time now to bring both into one fold under one shepherd (Jn. 10:16; 1 Cor. 12:13).
Acts 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
common or unclean Defiled and forbidden by the law (Mk. 7:2; Lev. 11; Dt. 14).
Would G_D, who established his covenant with the Jewish people and gave them an eternal Torah at Mount Sinai, and who is himself unchangeable (Malachi 3:6), change his Torah to make unclean animals kosher? This is the apparent meaning, and many Christian commentators assert that this is in fact the meaning. But they ignore the plain statement a few verses later which at last resolves Peter’s puzzlement,
Acts 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but G_D hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
“G_D has shown me not to call any person unclean or impureâ€.
So the vision is about persons and not about food.
G_D has not abrogated the Jewish dietary laws. Jesus said, “Don’t think that I have come to do away with the Torah†(Mt 5:17-20). The specific issue of whether Jesus abolished kashrut has already arisen at Mk 7:19; the conclusion there is that he did not.
In Peter’s vision the sheet lowered from heaven contained all kinds of animals, wild beasts, reptiles and birds; yet I know of no Bible interpreters who insist that eagles, vultures, owls, bats, weasels, mice, lizards, crocodiles, chameleons, snakes, spiders and bugs must now be considered edible. G_D specifies in Leviticus11 what Jews are to regard as “food.†Later, the way in which the laws of kashrut fit into the New Covenant is clarified for Peter and for us (Ga 2:12,14)
We as gentile believers are not under the dietary laws of the Jews
This was decided by the the elders in Jerusalem, Gentiles are to follow the covenant G_D gave to Noah after the flood.
Acts 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to G_D:
Wherefore, my sentence — or “judgment.†is, that we trouble not — with Jewish obligations. them which from among the Gentiles are turned to G_D — rather, “are turning.†The work is regarded as in progress, and indeed was rapidly advancing.
Acts 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
20. But . . . that they abstain from pollutions of idols — that is, things polluted by having been offered in sacrifice to idols. The heathen were accustomed to give away or sell portions of such animals. From such food James would enjoin the Gentile converts to abstain, lest it should seem to the Jews that they were not entirely weaned from idolatry. and from fornication — The characteristic sin of heathendom, unblushingly practiced by all ranks and classes, and the indulgence of which on the part of the Gentile converts would to Jews, whose Scriptures branded it as an abomination of the heathen, proclaim them to be yet joined to their old idols. and from things strangled — which had the blood in them. and from blood — in every form, as peremptorily forbidden to the Jews, and the eating of which, therefore, on the part of the Gentile converts, would shock their prejudices.
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
21. For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him . . . every sabbath day — thus keeping alive in every Jew those feelings which such practices would shock, and which, therefore, the Gentile converts must carefully respect if the oneness of both classes in Christ was to be practically preserved. The wisdom of these suggestions commended itself to all present.
28, 29. For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost and to us, etc. — The One, inwardly guiding to and setting His seal on the decision come to: the other, the external ecclesiastical authority devoutly embracing, expressing, and conveying to the churches that decision: — a great principle this for the Church in all time. to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things . . . from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well — The whole language of these prohibitions, and of Acts 15:20, 21, implies that they were designed as concessions to Jewish feelings on the part of the Gentile converts, and not as things which were all of unchanging obligation. The only cause for hesitation arises from “fornication†being mixed up with the other three things; which has led many to regard the whole as permanently prohibited. But the remarks on Acts 15:20 may clear this (see note on Acts 15:20). The then state of heathen society in respect of all the four things seems the reason for so mixing them up.
Acts 15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
Acts 15:25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
Acts 15:26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 15:27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
For as much as we have heard that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words — without authority or even knowledge of the church at Jerusalem, though they belonged to it, and probably pretended to represent its views. subverting your souls — Such strong language is evidently designed to express indignation at this attempt, by an unauthorized party, to bring the whole Christian Church under judicial and legal bondage.
Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
Acts 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare
The whole problem arose with the New Gentile converts being condemned by Judizers who want them to be places under Mosaic Law. This was the first Satanic attack recorded against the Body of Christ.
I know this seems like a whole lot of potatoes, patatoes to some. The deeper need to expound on this to keep the Bible skeptics from saying G_D is a liar.
Go ahead and enjoy those chops and applesauce (;~D
Guinness is a stout not a beer and when I lived in Ireland we had it over our porridge in the morning instead of milk and sugar. It was quite tasty as I remember.

Remnant,
this is the greatest problem with those quoting the Jerusalem council. Acts 15:21 says “For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.” So wait a minute, they’re still going to temple on Sabbath to learn Torah. These men were saying “These things are vital for them to stop immediately, the rest of Torah (which Messiah abided by) they will learn and abide by in time.” If G_d said don’t eat it because there is no life in it (also the fact that the Messiah’s life perfectly reflected Torah), then thats what I do.
