In the past two weeks, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has several times reiterated his call for eliminating Israel. In a number of conversations with the leaders of countries in the region and with Iran’s allies, Ahmadinejad stressed that Iran would stand alongside Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian organizations if they were to be attacked by Israel, and stated that this time there must be joint action to bring about Israel’s end.
JERUSALEM — The presidents of Iran and Syria on Thursday ridiculed U.S. policy in the region and pledged to create a Middle East “without Zionists,” combining a slap at recent U.S. overtures and a threat to Israel with an endorsement of one of the region’s defining alliances.
Damascus – Syria and Iran on Thursday signed an agreement waiving visa requirements for their nationals as the two countries’ presidents met in Damascus to reaffirm their “deeply rooted” ties. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said relations between his country and Iran were “deeply rooted” after meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, amid faltering US efforts to woo Syria away from its alliance with Iran.

Israel unveils new drone fleet that can fly as far as Persian Gulf, putting Iran within range
WASHINGTON — The United Nations’ nuclear inspectors declared for the first time on Thursday that they had extensive evidence of “past or current undisclosed activities†by Iran’s military to develop a nuclear warhead, an unusually strongly worded conclusion that seems certain to accelerate Iran’s confrontation with the United States and other Western countries.
Russia described western anxiety over Iran’s nuclear programme as “valid” yesterday, raising US hopes that Moscow will agree the passage of a United Nations resolution imposing new sanctions on Tehran.
