ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Sen. Barack Obama’s foes seized Sunday upon a brief slip of the tongue, when the Democratic presidential nominee was outlining his Christianity but accidentally said, “my Muslim faith.”
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be ………”
—2Ti 3:1-2a
“Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;…..”
—2Ti 3:4
he three words — immediately corrected — were during an exchange with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” when he was trying to criticize the quiet smear campaign suggesting he is a Muslim.
But illustrating the difficulty of preventing false rumors about his faith from spreading, anti-Obama groups within one hour of the interview had sliced it out of context and were sending it around via email. They also were blogging about it.
Mr. Obama, who is a Christian and often proudly speaks about how his faith has influenced his public service, said he finds it “deeply offensive” that there are efforts “coming out of the Republican camp to suggest that perhaps I’m not who I say I am when it comes to my faith.”
The exchange came after Mr. Obama said that Republicans are attempting to scare voters by suggesting he is not Christian, which McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said was “cynical.”
Asked about it on ABC, Mr. Obama said, “These guys love to throw a rock and hide their hand.”
“The McCain campaign has never suggested you have Muslim connections,” said Mr. Stephanopoulos, who repeatedly interrupted Mr. Obama during the interview.
“I don’t think that when you look at what is being promulgated on Fox News, let’s say, and Republican commentators who are closely allied to these folks,” Mr Obama responded, and Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted: “But John McCain said that’s wrong.”
Mr. Obama noted that when Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin “was forced” to talk about her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, he issued a forceful statement to reporters that the line of inquiry was “off limits.” But he said the McCain campaign tried to tie him to “liberal blogs that support Obama” and are “attacking Governor Palin.”
“Let’s not play games,” he said. “What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come.”
Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted with, “Christian faith.”
“My Christian faith,” Mr. Obama said quickly. “Well, what I’m saying is that he hasn’t suggested that I’m a Muslim. And I think that his campaign’s upper echelons have not, either. What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I’m not who I say I am when it comes to my faith — something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time.”
Asked to comment on the accidental misstatement illustrating the difficulty of the issue, Obama spokesman Bill Burton offered this comment: “I’m not surprised that the only outlet doing this story is The Washington Times.”

Obama’s Freudian slip is showing and very telling!
Prov. 14:5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Matt. 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matt. 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Matt. 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

how many red flags does a person need to realize that obama is NOT who he says he is??
muslims, muslim nations, even terrorists have been vocal about their support for obama… does anyone really think that these groups would support a christian?!?
obama is definitely NOT a christian… i don’t care what he says!… the world LOVES obama and his UNBIBLICAL and unamerican policies…
on the other hand, sarah palin IS a christian!… how do i know? the same way that i know that obama is not christian – by the world’s REACTION to her: the world HATES sarah palin!… palin was nominated just a week ago, and the media, hollywood celebrities, even govt. tv in iran has jumped to speak out against her (most of the time quite viciously)… btw, did you see the english host of the mtv awards last night, stating that as a member of the global community, he was urging americans to vote for obama because obama is better for the world… but of course, the global community LOVES obama… there are red flags everywhere!
but as much as i like sarah palin, i still can’t bring myself to vote for that traitor mccain… the more i read about mccain, the less i like him… too bad sarah palin isn’t running with ron paul or bill koenig….

Senator Obama might say he is a Christian but why then does he support abortion? I don’t see how any believer could. I think what he means is he goes to church most Sundays. I never hear him say when he was born again, if he is.
It’s basic 101 Christian doctrine: “You must be born again.”
I hope he does someday clarify this within his heart and publicly as well.

Give the man a break, it was just a slip of the tongue. I am not making a statement about his Christianity, just that anyone under the pressure of
an interview can make such a mistake.

If it walks like a duck, and it talks like a duck……it’s a DUCK!
Too bad Mr. Obama, that the truth you’ve so carefully masked it seeping out of your very mouth.
The TRUTH from the lips of a candidate….shocking.

“From the issues of the heart a man speaketh…” Obama is having more and more difficulty building his case for Christianity. I am not sure if he truly is a closet Muslim, but either way he is definitely not a Christian. Believe me, if America wanted Obama to be a red-headed stepchild, he would claim he was one just to get elected!

You people all have your eyes shut to the bigger, more prominent issue in that NIETHER of these candidates will make any changes for the better… we can bash and slaughter any one of them but in the end, the outcome will be the same, after all IT IS WRITTEN!! Lets not be ignorant and keep watch, keep our eyes wide open, because the enemy is closer than EVER!! One LOVE!

Juan –
I disagree.
The very BIG issue is that either you want a “conservative”
in the driver’s seat, or a “liberal.”
There will be changes made on the highest court in the land.
There will be changes to the tax code.
There will be changes in the way we conduct foreign affairs.
There will be changes in energy policies.
There will be changes to how much government intrudes into our lives.
I want a president with proven real experience, not just an orator.
McCain has it Obama does NOT.
Vote one way or another that’s your choice to live with.
Just don’t vote “present,” or none of the above, that is a cop out and a lame way to say you participated.

Juan,
Welcome to In The Days!
There has been several postings on other articles discussing that no matter who the candidates are, none, no not one, will have the answers to all these issues. ONLY our Lord & Savior, Christ Jesus, will have all the solutions to what is needed here.
Yes, the enemy may be closer than ever, but Jesus is closer still.

Guys….neither you NOR I have the truth of the situation.
Only God does.
I have misspoken exactly like Senator Obama among my friends during lively debates…..now imagine you are in front of an interviewer, cameras pointing at you, and having a discussion about the question of your Christianity which, to you, is a very important topic.
It can be very easy to say “Muslim” instead of “Christianity” in a debate as to what your faith is, because very small parts of what you say can completely change what you mean.
“I am a Christian.” “I am not a Christian.”
“I am not a Muslim.” “I am a Muslim.”
This should not even set off alarms in anyone’s head.
Simply trust God, pray, pay attention to the ISSUES the candidates discuss, and vote.

Remember, everyone, that it is a doctrine of islam that you are allowed to LIE to the infidel (that’s us) if it is beneficial to islam. In other words, it is acceptable to TELL people you are a Christian, as long as in your heart you continue to hold islam supreme. I provide this only for furthering the thought process…only G_d knows the heart of Obama.

Dennis,
You are missing the MAIN point.
We all know what he was saying and under what circumstances he was saying it. I don’t believe he is either Muslim or Christian to be honest.
I think he has been “exposed” to both religions and claims Christian for whatever reason. Much like I did when my mom took us to church.
Was I saved? Nope!
If you are born again you will claim that.
I have yet to hear him say he is “saved”. I pray that God would open his eyes to the truth of Christ.
I look forward to hearing him say he is born again.
I still won’t vote for him, but that’s because I don’t trust the platform of the Democrats to be the solution we need to govern this country.
