Fear experiments could create ‘vacuum’ and consume planet

A European court says the idea a new supercollider project could create a “celestial vacuum” and eventually consume the Earth is worth discussing, but the project can move forward on schedule anyway.
At dispute is what could happen should planned experiments at the supercollider built near Geneva by the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, go awry when the massive atomic particle smasher is fired up about this time next week.
Several scientists led by spokesman Otto Rossler, a German chemist, have filed a case in the European Court of Human Rights seeking a delay in the project’s opening while the potential problems are studied further.
Rossler said in a report in the Telegraph that the sponsoring organization has admitted its work will create black holes – but it doesn’t think that will be a risk. He has another opinion.
“My own calculations have shown it is quite plausible that these little black holes survive and will grow exponentially and eat the planet from the inside. I have been calling for CERN to hold a safety conference to prove my conclusions wrong but they have not been willing,” he said.
WND also reported on an earlier lawsuit over whether the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, which is built to slam protons together at an unprecedented peak energy of 14 trillion electron volts, could spark, literally, the end of the world.
Critics at that time had filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government and the CERN. A hearing is scheduled later this week in the case.
Co-plaintiffs Walter Wagner and Luis Sancho said the collider could create black holes – or strangelets – that would grow and eventually consume Earth. A black hole is a region of space so dense that light cannot escape its gravitational pull. Scientists have not proved the existence of strangelets, a hypothetical cosmological object containing an exotic form of matter.
Physicists at CERN and similar research facilities dismiss the doomsday claims as nonsense.
And a spokeswoman for the European Court of Human Rights told the Telegraph the latest lawsuit, brought by Rossler and others, had been lodged but a petition for an emergency injunction against the project was rejected.
“There will therefore be no bar to CERN carrying out these experiments but the applicants can continue with this case here at the ECHR,” she said.
The goal of the project is to re-create the conditions scientists believe existed in a fraction of a second after the universe was created. They are looking for evidence of the building blocks of life.
The nearly $9 billion project has been funded by more than a dozen nations, and CERN spokesman James Gillies said “extensive safety assessments” have been completed.
“The Large Hadron Collider will not be producing anything that does not happen routinely in nature due to cosmic rays,” he told the Sunday Telegraph. “If they were dangerous we would know about it already.”
Other colliders already have been operating for years, but the CERN project is raising questions anew because of its size. It is a circular tunnel about 300 feet underground that runs for about 18 miles. The more than 5,000 magnets inside are expected to accelerate tiny particles almost to the speed of light, dispatching them around the tunnel in one-11,000th of a second, according to the Daily Mail.
The particles then will smash headon in collisions that will generate enough heat to melt a small car. Scientists hope the collisions will produce new scientific information.
Rossler said the scientists sought court help because CERN operators are not taking “all the precautions they should be in order to protect human life.”

If G-D doesn’t want the planet earth sucked into a black hole, then it won’t happen.
imo, the black hole that the scientists should worry about are the ones in their heads!

LOL, this is funny!
We already know the fate of the Earth. Its in the bible.
These guys should read Revelations, then they would know there isn’t any danger in creating a black hole to suck up the Earth.
But then, they would have to believe what they read, wouldn’t they!

This article certainly gave me the chuckles. Why is it that when scientists say the earth/world is going to end they get some consideration (even in the media) but when Christians proclaim it from Scripture we are labeled as kooks??? Some more of that stellar equality that the world is striving for….

i don’t know how people live WITHOUT having and knowing the God who is in control of all things, and WITHOUT being able to rest in the arms of the heavenly Father… their lives must be filled with so much fear and turmoil over various events and scenarios that they worry might happen (as we see here with the scientists worrying over the earth being sucked into a black hole)…
they worry about black holes, global warming, wars, etc., etc…. and yet, they scoff about the events predicted in the bible…
this article reminds me of the verse in luke that describes the fear of men: “men’s hearts failing them from fear, and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth”
what is the answer?
accept the Lord Jesus as Savior… and be saved from both irrational fears and from the wrath that is to come…

I agree wholeheartedly! I too think this world must be a dreadful place when you have no hope whatsoever for the present or the future. What if this happens, or what if that happens? Where will I go when I die? What will happen to me. Turmoil, anxiety, hoplessness, depression, crossing fingers, carying good-luck charms and amulets – the list is endless. It is a terrifying thought for many.
On the opposite end of the scale, you have Almighty God. Our loving, heavenly Father, His Son Jesus, whom we can turn to at every moment of every day. The Holy Spirit, who leads and guides and encourages and gives hope to the hopeless, who binds up broken hearts who sets captives free and who gives peace that passes all understanding regardless of whatever the situation, if we will just fall on our knees, repent and give our lives completely to Him and trust Him implicitly with our every thing.
I live in South Africa where crime is world-renowned. We have one of the highest rape stats in the world, many, many murders and break-ins where the home occupants are raped and or murdered, we have car-jackings, bank cash ATMs blown up every other week. We have bank robberies, cash-in-transit heists every other month, and the deaths resulting from car accidents, will fill you with horror if you come from what I call a ‘normal’ country. Corruption is no longer a ‘gasp’ moment – it is going on all over, infact- not much is a gasp moment – all the things I have described above are everyday happenings -norms, if you like…
People here on average, live in homes with burglar bars and behind walls that have electric fencing on top all around. Crime is the topic of conversation at dinner parties and has been for quite a few years. It is so very sad. I have so many friends who have left and they ask “what about you are you leaving too?”
But you see, our hope is not in this life here or our corrupt government, it is in Jesus, so I won’t have the electric fencing and be afraid of all this out there. God is my protection not electric fencing. With all this awfulness and lawlessness going on around us, I would not want to live anywhere else in the world. This is where the Lord has me and my family and we feel that this is where He wants us to stay. If He decides we are to move later, then we will move – to where I have no idea and I am not concerned about it – that’s His business.
In amongst all this chaos we live in, God is moving in South Africa in a wonderful way. My life with Him would possibly not be where it is today if life was ‘easy-cruising”
Not all is bad here. We actually manage to have a really good life with the help of the Lord and work around the prolems and yes, there are times when we want to pick up our robes and run like Elijah, but then I look to Jesus and we are given a peace from Him to carry on and we live day to day with Him and look to Him for everything. We know His voice is a whisper. He gives us our every breath. He has saved us, what more could we ask – everything else He brings is extra. Our lives are either in His hands and we trust Him, or our lives are not and then we have no hope.
Being sucked into black holes? For sissies. Live here for a while…
To finish with your last line –

it is wonderful to hear about the peace and strength that God has given you in the midst of perilous circumstances… it is a great testimony to the provision and protection of our LORD!
i know of people here in the united states that live in relative comfort and ease, yet also live in constant fear due to the rumors they hear… what kind of life is that!… yet they do not turn to the living Lord and Savior… i just don’t get it… but we read in the bible that during the midst of the tribulaton, people will still curse God and refuse to acknowledge Him… i guess it must be due to arrogance and pride… people just want to be their own ‘god’; the great lie from the book of genesis: “you shall be as gods”… that is one popular lie!… the whole world seems to be looking for the “god” within – via yoga & meditiation, seminars, classes, oprah, etc. etc… the world doesn’t mind talking about “god” but they sure don’t want to hear about Jesus… when people talk about “god”, i always wonder which “god” they are talking about (LOL)…
anyway, i think i am starting to ramble (LOL)… but thank you for posting your testimony! and i will keep you in my prayers!

Firstly Y2K drills, secondly LHC fears, thirdly….what could it be? Maybe aliens invading the earth and turning us humans into their slaves as seen in the movie Planet of the Aples. People really need to read the Bible and learn about what God says about His plans for us humans.
