Netanyahu Warns Against Dividing Jerusalem, Calls for Defensible Borders

”Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
—Ezekiel 11:17

At the opening of the Knesset Winter Session, Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu lashed out at the government’s policy, claiming that its strategy would eventually lead to an Iranian terrorist presence in Jerusalem and the rest of Israel.

“The unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon created an Iranian outpost – from which Israel is being attacked – in the North, and the unilateral pullout from Gaza created a second Iranian base in Gaza, ‘Hamastan,’” Netanyahu said. “And now the government is planning a third withdrawal – from Judea and Samaria – that will lead to a third Iranian outpost.”

Netanyahu quoted statements made by Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert before the withdrawals from Lebanon and Gaza, respectively, saying the two had promised security, while Israel was in actuality served with aggression and terror.

“Giving Hamas half of Jerusalem will make the rest of Jerusalem unlivable,” Netanyahu said. “Giving up Judea and Samaria will transfer the areas controlling the coastal plain into the hands of Hamas, leading to Kassams…on Tel Aviv.”

“According to the government’s plans, Israel will pull back to the 67′ borders. Obviously, this is the plan and any attempts to disguise it are futile,” he said. “We are facing an exact replica of the government’s plan at the Camp David summit in 2000.”

“This is no way to make peace,” the former prime minister lamented.

Netanyahu claimed that the government was putting all of its cards on the table, a move which, he said, would only cause heightened pressure from Palestinian terrorists whose intention would be to bring about an early withdrawal.

“Olmert will place Hamas men on the walls of Jerusalem,” he warned. “Jerusalem will fast become a pilgrimage site for terrorists from all over the world.”

“The government’s policy is afflicted with total blindness…a vision must be rooted in the ground- not suspended in the clouds.”

Mr. Netanyahu spells everything out very clearly, it’s a shame
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert doesn’t get the fact that one cannot make
peace deals with those who want to kill you.

netanyahu is one of the few people that i like in the israeli government… he seems to be the only one who can think logically… at least, israel has one voice of reason that is warning her… but i’m sure the rest of the government will ignore him….

we are rushing toward the Day of the Lord!

As i strugggle through the book of Isaiah, (up until a few years ago all of the OT was a mystery to me- mostly because i refused to admit my own sin.. just as Israel did and does today, and refused to submit to a loving God who only had my best interest in mind..) but as Israel… i fought him for many long sad years…As i see Israel continue to rebel against the Lord , i hear Isaiah in his prophecy for then and now trying to tell the people what was happening to them and what would happen to them… not many listened… so deep in their sin and disobedience…
I can thoroughly understand Israel then and today.. i oft times scoffed at Eve.. and wondered how she could have eaten the fruit…
I scoffed at Cain at how he could kill his brother…
and why couldn’t those people in Sodom turn from their sin?..
and what about Peter.. how could he deny Christ three times?????
How could have Jonah refused to go to Nineveh? What about me?
It has taken me many readings and rereadings of the bible , i only started reading the bible cover to cover in 1994, not that i understood it most of the times…but now i can appreciate the God of the OT.. the people there were stiffnecked rebellious sinners(just like me), and God tried and tried to get them to listen, but they wouldn’t ..
It is same today for Israel and for America and all the world.. but it is not too late… just like the thief on the cross…. even until the last we can call on the Lord and ask “Lord remember me” , and God in his infinite mercy can forgive our great mountain of sin,, our filthy scarlet rags.. and tell us gently.. “Today …. paradise.”..and make us white as snow again… so it is my prayer especially for Israel that they would call on the Lord as a nation,, and seek his will for “what to do” . It would seem that God has surrounded Israel with enemies just like in Isaiah’s days and maybe Israel had better pay attention to the past and the present and turn from their evil idolatorous ways…If anybody else is struggling with Isaiah.. Matthew Henry and Chuck Smith have great commentaries thru blueletterbible.org

Joan H.
Aren’t we blessed that G-D loves us so much, as only HE can, that HE has the patience to put up with all our sins & short-comings. But… not only is HE patient, but HE has also decided to not to even remember our sins once we accept Jesus as our Savior.
Some of my favorite parts of the Bible is when our sinful circumstances are being discussed when the following words appear…”But G-D”…& then every takes a turn for the best.
such as:
Eph 2:1 AND you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
Eph 2:3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Eph 2:4 BUT G-D, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Eph 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…

What an awesome G-D we serve! Thank you Jesus!

Oh Joan God Bless you…thank you for speaking what was on my heart for so many years, too. It takes a speciaal unction from the Holy Spirit to love the Lord’s people…I used to get so mad at them for NOT listening…and even went as far as to say they didn’t deserve their GOD…but God has His Purposes in all things…we are no different than they…and I pray daily for the scales to fall from their eyes and so many are now coming to faith in Yeshua..thank you sister…may we always pary for the peace of Jerusalem…Shay~*

Amen as well, Joan.
I have been reading through Judges during my morning devotions…and while at times I think, “What is wrong with these people?!” I know that I, too, am quick to forget the faithfulness of God and must constantly repent and turn my full attention back to Him.
Praise Him for that faithfulness that He lavishes upon us!
