Bin Laden Issues Warning on Iraq, Israel

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) – Osama bin Laden warned Iraq’s Sunni Arabs against fighting al-Qaida and vowed to expand the terror group’s holy war to Israel in a new audiotape Saturday, threatening “blood for blood, destruction for destruction.”

“Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.”
—Jeremiah 31:10-11

Israel in the Last Days

“And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.”
—Amos 9:14-15

Most of the 56-minute tape dealt with Iraq, apparently al-Qaida’s latest attempt to keep supporters in Iraq unified at a time when the U.S. military claims to have al-Qaida’s Iraq branch on the run.
The tape did not mention Pakistan or the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, though Pakistan’s government has blamed al-Qaida and the Taliban for her death on Thursday. That suggested the tape was made before the assassination.
Bin Laden’s comments offered an unusually direct attack on Israel, stepping up al-Qaida’s attempts to use the Israeli-Arab conflict to rally supporters. Israel has warned of growing al-Qaida activity in Palestinian territory, though terror network is not believed to have taken a strong role there so far.
“We intend to liberate Palestine, the whole of Palestine from the (Jordan) river to the sea,” he said, threatening “blood for blood, destruction for destruction.”
“We will not recognize even one inch for Jews in the land of Palestine as other Muslim leaders have,” bin Laden said.
In Iraq, a number of Sunni Arab tribes in western Anbar province have formed a coalition fighting al-Qaida-linked insurgents that U.S. officials credit for deeply reducing violence in the province. The U.S. military has been working to form similar “Awakening Councils” in other areas of Iraq.
Bin Laden said Sunni Arabs who have joined the Awakening Councils “have betrayed the nation and brought disgrace and shame to their people. They will suffer in life and in the afterlife.”
White House spokesman Tony Fratto said bin Laden’s tape shows that al-Qaida’s aim is to block democracy and freedom for all Iraqis.
“It also reminds us that the mission to defeat al-Qaida in Iraq is critically important and must succeed,” Fratto said. “The Iraqi people – every day, and in increasing numbers – are choosing freedom and standing against the murderous, hateful ideology of AQI. And we stand with them.”
Several hours before the tape was issued, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, said al-Qaida was becoming increasingly fearful of losing the support of Sunni Arabs and had begun targeting the leaders of the Awakening Councils.
Petraeus said al-Qaida attaches “enormous importance” to “these tribes that have turned against them, and to the general sense that Sunni Arab communities have rejected them more and more around Iraq.”
“They are trying to counter this and they have done so by attacking them,” which is increasingly turning Sunnis against al-Qaida, he said.
In the audiotape, bin Laden denounced Abdul-Sattar Abu Risha, the former leader of the Anbar Awakening Council, who was killed in a September bombing claimed by al-Qaida.
“The most evil of the traitors are those who trade away their religion for the sake of their mortal life,” bin Laden said.
Bin Laden said U.S. and Iraqi officials are seeking to set up a “national unity government” joining the country’s Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds.
“Our duty is to foil these dangerous schemes, which try to prevent the establishment of an Islamic state in Iraq, which would be a wall of resistance against American schemes to divide Iraq,” he said.
He called on Iraq’s Sunni Arabs to rally behind the Islamic State of Iraq, the insurgent umbrella group led by al-Qaida. Besides the Awakening Councils, some Sunni insurgent groups that continue to fight the Americans have rejected the Islamic State.
Bin Laden said Sunnis should pledge their allegiance to Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the little known “emir” or leader of the Islamic State of Iraq. U.S. officials have claimed that al-Baghdadi does not exist, saying al-Qaida created the name to give its coalition the illusion of an Iraqi leadership.
“Failure to give allegiance to the emir after he has been endorsed leads to great evils,” bin Laden warned. “Emir Abu Omar would rather have his neck severed than betray the Muslims … Emir Abu Omar and his brothers are not one of those who accept compromise or meeting the enemy halfway.”
The authenticity of the tape could not be independently confirmed. But the voice resembled that of bin Laden. The tape was posted on an Islamic militant Web site where al-Qaida’s media arm, Al-Sahab, issues the group’s messages.
The tape was the fifth message released by bin Laden this year, a flurry of activity after he went more than a year without issuing any tapes. The messages began with a Sept. 8 video that showed bin Laden for the first time in nearly three years. The other messages this year have been audiotapes.
In an October tape, bin Laden sought to patch up splits between Iraqi insurgent factions, urging them to unite with the Islamic State of Iraq – the insurgent coalition led by al-Qaida. He took a conciliatory stance, chiding even al-Qaida’s followers for being too “extremist” in their positions toward other insurgents.
Bin Laden’s deputy Ayman al-Zawahri took a sharper tone in a Dec. 16 video, branding as “traitors” those who work with the anti-Qaida tribal councils and calling for Sunnis to purge anyone cooperating with the Americans.

    A warning to Bin Laden

Is. 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Osama you are about to become Has-bin, Laden

    Repent or Burn

I think that bin Laden speaking out now and for the 5th time this year suggests that they are becoming frustrated with their lack of progress in Iraq. During the first few years of the war, his messages were few and now they seem to be trying to rally more support for their insane cause.

A previous article on ITD interviewed a former terrorist trainer who confessed that the men recruited came from many nations and that they were few in numbers.

al-Qaida is loosing momentum and as a result the fanatical leader (bib Laden) is coming out with more tapes. I see this as a sign of weakness.

How many of his threats have actually come true?

There will always be a fanatical Muslim leader to continue these terrorist activities, but we may be getting close to finding bin Laden if he continues to step-up his broadcasting. I pray that he would be brought to justice.

In the name of our Lord Jesus.

As I am preparing myself mentally to work in an area emergency department tonight, just blocks from a huge block party, (the 4th largest in the USA, something to be proud of ..haaa) I know that i will be surrounded by needy patients that in their deceipt and pursuit of “happiness” they will drink too much, they will take drugs, and some with their lack of hope will have attempted suicide, and present for care … in recent months i have seen an increase in these behaviours.. the homeless also present to the ed as they too are cold and hungry and have many physical and emotional ailements….We “resuscitate” them… giving them fluids, monitoring them, warming them etc until they are able to walk, talk, are coherent and can handle some fluids, and then the hardest of all, find someone sober and capable to care for them on discharge.. i find myself in the book of Psalms 1:1 and God tells us of the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join with scoffers… but delight in doing everything the Lord wants day and night they think about his law… ( so much for new years resolutions. per see…. just read and meditate on his law).. Psalm 1:3 goes on to say that those who delight in doing everything the Lord wants are like trees planted along riverbank,… bearing fruit…. not withereing .. and prospering…. (not like the alcohol intoxication i will see tonight) for as in verse 4 they are like worthless chaff scattered by the wind…
onto verses 5 reminds us that they if they do not repent will be condemmed at the time of judgemnt… sinners will have no place among the godly… verse 6 says that the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction…
Good news for me and for all as we face our days to come… God bless you all… I look forward to rereading God’s word again this year, and can’t wait for what He will reveal to me…I so appreciate this site and the hard work the editor and his helpers do to make this site available to all of us.. i feel like i know all of you a little bit and i enjoy the comradere of this site.. we may not agree on everything always, as we talk to each other , but knowing that we are trying to spread God’s word accurately and lovingly to others who may not know him…let that be our unified mission in serving Him. Please pray for all the desperate people out there that need the Lord.. and those that try to reach them for the Lord…

    Joan H,

G-D bless you for your hard work & the dedication it takes for you to continue to care for those who won’t care for themselves. I have always felt that care-giving is a G-D-given gift to those who truly have a heart for the well-being of others.

Yes, we are all freinds in a very special way here on ITD’s. And we all have such a wonderful future ahead of us when our Father calls us back to HIMSELF.

Until then, I pray that we can reach others through our conversations, causing them to hunger for the things of the KING of kings & LORD of lords.

    Happy New Year Everyone!

linda, as i have always told people there isn’t a thing i do as a nurse that i do on my own (well at least the good and successful things).. i (no the Lord) once helped me put an iv in a week old child and i had never done that before, it was new in my career as a nurse and i was terrible at starting iv’s in adults with huge veins… i hope i didn’t sound like i am some mother theresa, because i so often fall short of the “mark” the Lord would have me aim for… and that shames me so..
i can’t remember where it is in the bible that says we really can’t love people without His help and i know that first hand in my personal and professional life.. i know that many times what i say and do , in showing kindness to the patients that just wear me out.. is not what i would like to say or do if the real joan h was letting herself show.. in fact the very night of new years eve right after i had posted the above..this very depressed homeless women came in and we were quite busy with “real ” patients… and all she wanted was to wash her feet… at first i just wanted to discharge her rapidly and get the bed ready for a new patient… there was no real reason for this women to be in the ed… so as she was screaming at me for no reason…. i bit my tongue.. went to the refrigerator, got her a sandwich, got her some juice… found her a blanket to go… and started running the water to just the right temp to get her feet cleaned up….and that was all Jesus..not joan..
i am really trying to keep my heart and mind and actions more in tune with what the Lord says i should.. and after a lifetime of letting me in charge, that is hard…i;d like if if i never had a rotten thought or word and then the actions were all what God would have me do… but i just need to let more of Jesus domintate my person..
God is good and i am just so glad he is patient with me …i know my life would be even more blessed if i could learn to be more submissive to Him..
thank you for your kind words.. all the glory goes to my Father in heaven..

    Joan H,
Reading your last post is very inspirational to all of us who are going through the exact same thing but in different venues.
Of course you wish that you never had a rotten thought or word; but don’t you see that the Almighty would much rather have a child who has been given free will but is choosing to do the best they can to please HIM, rather than robot-type personalities who just do & say good things because that’s the way they were created.
We are all a work in progress, thanks to the Holy Spirit, & I am sure it pleases HIM greatly just to know the intentions of our hearts is to please HIM. And, yes, all the glory goes to our Heavenly Father.
Be thankful that it is your heart’s desire to please HIM. You know what the Bible says about who it is when you help someone like the lady that you gave the blanket to…
    G-D’s blessings to all!
