Visits Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii

POMPEII, Italy, OCT. 19, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI placed the world in Mary’s hands during his one-day visit to the shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii, near Naples.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
—Exodus 20:3
“The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.”
—Jeremiah 7:18
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
—1 Timothy 2:5
The Pope’s leading of the Supplication of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary, a prayer written by Blessed Bartolo Longo (1841-1926) was one of the high points of this 12th pastoral trip in Italy.
“We implore you to have pity today on the nations that have gone astray, on all Europe, on the whole world, that they might repent and return to your heart,” the text of the prayer reads.
With the words of Bartolo, the Pontiff turned to Mary, saying: “If you will not help us because we are ungrateful and unworthy children of your protection, we will not know to whom to turn.”
In a gesture of filial love, the Pope then offered the Madonna a golden rose.
The Holy Father traveled by helicopter this morning to Pompeii, and was welcomed by 50,000 faithful. This is the third time a Pope has visited the shrine.
Pompeii was destroyed by the lava and ashes from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
The new Pompeii arose 1,796 years later, when, in 1872, Bartolo Longo, a lawyer and lay Dominican, built a church dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.
The shrine contains an image of Mary to which hundreds of miracles and healings are attributed.
God’s face
In the homily delivered during Holy Mass today, the Pope evoked the figure of Bartolo Longo, who, like St. Paul, had persecuted the Church, “becoming militantly anticlerical and engaging in spiritualist and superstitious practices.”
Longo was a Satanist priest who later repented when he encountered the “true face of God,” the Holy Father said.
“Wherever God comes in this desert, flowers bloom,” said Benedict XVI. “Even Blessed Bartolo Longo, with his personal conversion, bears witness to this spiritual power that transforms man from within and makes him capable of doing great things according to God’s designs.
“This city, which he re-founded is thus a historical demonstration of how God transforms the world: filling man’s heart with charity.”
“Here in Pompeii,” the Pope continued, “it is understood that love for God and love for neighbor are inseparable.
“Here at Mary’s feet, families rediscover or reinforce the joy of love that keeps them united.”
The secret of Pompeii, the Holy Father revealed, is the rosary: “This prayer leads us through Mary to Jesus.”
“The rosary is a contemplative prayer that is accessible to all: great and small, lay people and clerics, cultured and uncultured,” he said. “The rosary is a spiritual weapon in the struggle against evil, against all violence, for peace in hearts, in families, in society and in the world.”

The demonic apparition that Roman Catholics think is Mary of the bible is leading millions astray.
I am a former Roman Catholic. Please make an effort to find out the truth. You may think you have it now but you really don’t.
Sadly, many don’t even know that they don’t know!
Here is a list of resources that will help you.
Roger Oakland has a great DVD on the subject of Marian Apparitions.
Look for it at the following links.

Dave Hunt, at Berean Call has a great book that is packed with information about the Roman Catholic Church, a DVD of the same name will wet your whistle for the book.

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
(Matthew 7:13 NASB)
The Pope, is a deceiver himself!
Is it any wonder Roman Catholic people are easily deceived?
“I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.â€
(Revelation 18:4-5 NASB)

I must really be getting confused. . .I thought for sure that it was Jesus Christ who was on that cross, & that He was our Intercessor to the Almighty G-D of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob.

Blasphemy!
I was raised in this lie ridden religion!
I just returned from visiting my 83 yr old mother who daily prays her rosary.
We had the same discussion we always have about her beliefs in purgatory, confession , Mary, the rosary etc. , and “my bible” that i read.
She still has no assurance of salvation, she still clings to the lies of the church, and refuses to listen to the truth of Jesus Christ found in the bible.
It is sad and we all must continue to pray for peoples conversion, love them and continue to read our bibles and pray that we remain steadfast to our committment to our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

As one wise pastor said, “When you’re sick, you don’t go to the doctor’s mother; you go to the doctor.” Nuff’ said.

Yes, Joan H. so was I
A man stopped me and asked about my “Mene, meme, teckle Uphrasin†bumper sticker while I was at the Dollar Store. He was wearing a six inch long crucifix, a scrimshaw belt buckle inscribed with a depiction of Christ and a set of rosary beads that would put a biker’s chains to shame. His truck had a set of statues of several “Saints†on the dashboard.
He is a Roman Catholic evangelist; he is what I call an “Anti-Christ evangelist.â€
He goes around the country trying to get people to put up large crucifixes on their front lawns. He gave me his card, which states
Didymusmissions.org as his ministry.
Without him saying a word, I could have done both sides of the conversation. I have had the same conversation with staunch Roman Catholics before. It always turns out the same way. Most cult members do this; yes, Roman Catholicism is a cult. The exception to this is Mormon elders who are usually very polite; lost, but polite!
He would interrupt me continually especially when he was doing poorly in the discussion. Then he would change the subject to get around answering my questions.
It always ends the same way. I asked him to show me the same respect that I showed him. I did not interrupt him when he spoke and I expected the same thing in kind, and that if he continued to do that, the conversation would end. He apologized for interrupting me but continued to do so and I ended the conversation!
He presented the same tired arguments, using very poor exegesis, and outright twisting and torturing of scripture that Roman Catholics think are compelling!
They don’t realize how sadly pathetic their case is!

Fellow Christians,
My God, My God. Why do you believe you and only you have the right answers? The Catholic Church has been around since JESUS. And He, Our Lord Jesus, says in Mt 16: The gates of hell would NOT previll against His Church. The first and only church until the 16th. century was the Catholic Church. You guys would not have any form of Christian Church or Bible without there having been and BEING a Catholic Church. Do you think for even one moment that you love Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ anymore than we do? Do YOU Really? Boy ado, satan must really laugh when he sees what he caused thru oh Martin Luther. Love Jesus and let the rest go, Ed

Edward, I love your enthusiasm in Jesus Christ, the Mormons and JW’s have the same exact passion…Was the Church built around the Roman Empire? Did Jesus first go to the Gentiles to spread his gospel? No, Israel is the place Jesus was sent to, not to the Gentiles. When the Samaritan woman begged Jesus to heal her child, Jesus replied, “is it fit for me to give food to the dogs?” Same question, is it fit to give food to the dogs? But if you reply wisely, “yes, even dogs lick the crumbs under the table.” Then by faith are you healed.
Jesus sent his people amongst ravening wolves-Gentiles, so we too could have a chance at salvation. But the Holy Bible was all based on the Israelites, not Gentiles. So ask yourself again, ‘if it wasn’t for the Roman Catholic Church there wouldn’t be Christianity?’ It’s God’s way, not our own are we granted salvation.
