“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity the sea and the waves roaring;â€
—Luke 21:25
“And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:”
—Ezekiel 38:3
Mr Putin signed a decree citing exceptional circumstances affecting security as the reason for the move.
Russia has been angered by US plans to base parts of a missile defence system in Poland and the Czech Republic.
The 1990 Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty limits the number of heavy weapons deployed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Urals mountains.
A NATO spokesman James Appathurai says the alliance regrets the Russian move.
“The CFE treaty and missile defence are the two major irritants between Russia and the west,” he said.
“It would have been easy, it still is easy, to move closer to ratifying the CFE treaty, so this is a definitely a disappointing step in the wrong direction by the Russian federation.”

I think an American Indian once asked “what good are treaties anyways”?
Then he opened an Indian casino, and didn’t have to pay taxes.
Then the Indian said, “Aaahh! This treaty I like”.
To bad for the Hawaiians they did not get much for their treaty. But, they do have the best waves on the planet, Dude!
The native Alaskans got a pretty good deal though, they can still hunt whales and Walrus.
I wonder what Bush and Putin discussed in Maine a couple weeks ago?
I think Putin agreed to not help Iran finish their Nuclear program until Bush is out of office. Behind closed doors though. And I bet we don’t make much of a fuss about this treaty either. For now, anyways.
The whole thing goes back a couple decades.
Remember, we helped the Taliban(Afghanistan) defeat the Communists by supplying Arms to them. And we(US) helped Iraq fight Iran by supplying Saddam with arms too. Now the shoe is on the other foot so to speak. Russia is supplying arms to Iran, who in turn supplies the Insurgents in Iraq to fight us(US).
