Israel urges Russia to end contacts with Hamas

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) – Israeli Strategic Planning Minister Avigdor Lieberman has called on Russian authorities to end contacts with the Palestinian movement Hamas.

“And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:”
—Ezekiel 38:3

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity the sea and the waves roaring;”
—Luke 21:25

“To my regret, not only Russia, but some countries in Western Europe as well maintain contacts with Hamas,” Lieberman said in an interview with Russia’s Kommersant newspaper published on Wednesday.

“We are not happy with it. We are trying to persuade Russia to comply with common standards in defining terror,” he said.

“Terror cannot be either good or bad, our own or someone else’s. It is impossible to name Chechen militants terrorists and yet refer to [Hamas leader] Khaled Mashaal as the leader of a national liberation movement,” the minister said.
