Iran, Venezuela in “axis of unity” against U.S

ASSALOUYEH, Iran (Reuters) – The presidents of Iran and Venezuela launched construction of a joint petrochemical plant on Monday, strengthening an “axis of unity” between two oil-rich nations staunchly opposed to the United States.

Distress of Nations

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity the sea and the waves roaring;”
—Luke 21:25

Perilous Times

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived”
—2Timothy 3:13

Iniquity Abounding

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
—Matthew 24:12

Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who both often rail against Washington, also signed a series of other deals to expand economic cooperation, ranging from setting up a dairy factory in Venezuela to forming an oil company.

“The two countries will united defeat the imperialism of North America,” a beaming Chavez told a news conference during an official visit to the Islamic Republic, which the United States has labeled part of an “axis of evil”.

“When I come to Iran Washington gets upset,” he said.

The two presidents — whose countries are members of the OPEC oil producing cartel — earlier attended the ceremony to start building a methanol facility with an annual capacity of 1.65 million tons on the Islamic Republic’s Gulf coast.

“Iran and Venezuela — the axis of unity,” read one of many official posters at the site near the port town of Assalouyeh, showing the two leaders hugging each other and shaking hands.

Ahmadinejad — who came to power two years ago pledging to revive the values of the 1979 Islamic revolution — hailed the event as a step towards boosting “brotherly” ties of the two “revolutionary” nations. Iran is embroiled in a worsening nuclear standoff with Western powers.

WESTERN “BARBARIANS”

Chavez, who last week pushed two U.S. oil giants out of his country as part of his self-styled socialist revolution, said: “This is the unity of the Persian Gulf and the Caribbean Sea.”

Iranian officials said a second methanol plant would be set up in Venezuela. Each would cost about $650 million to $700 million and take four years to complete. Methanol is an alcohol which can be used as a solvent or an element in fuel.

That would help Iran to access the Latin American market, while Venezuela would get closer to buyers in India and Pakistan.

Chavez, who wants to forge an alliance of leftist states to counter U.S. policies, arrived in Tehran on Saturday after visiting Russia and Belarus.

In comments certain to please his hosts, who have often called on the United States to leave Iraq, Chavez branded those invading Iran’s neighbor as “barbarians”, drawing parallels with the European colonization of Latin America centuries ago.

“Those who try to convince the world that in Iran there are a bunch of barbarians are barbarians themselves.”

Iran’s hardline Kayhan daily said the two countries were riding on a “global anti-imperialism wave.”

But both also face economic challenges.

Iran sits atop the world’s second-largest oil and gas reserves, but U.S.-led efforts to isolate it over its nuclear ambitions are hurting investment in the sector, analysts say.

The Islamic state rejects accusations it is seeking to build atom bombs, saying it only aims to generate electricity.

Chavez last week forced U.S. oil majors from Venezuela, seizing oilfields from Exxon Mobil and ConocoPhillips.

But economists caution his social spending, mainly paid for by state oil company PDVSA, could run into trouble as Venezuela battles to maintain oil output after the exit of the majors. The opposition complain his anti-Americanism scares off investors.

Strange bed fellows. Their alliance is based on hatred for the US. The enemy of my enemy is my friend?

It is hard for me to imagine Almanijehad as a communist (atheist) or Chavez following the Sharia Law. What is easy to imagine is Chavez using Iran for international recognition and Iran using Venezuela as a lunch pad for their nuclear rockets.

Hey Jen-o

Now here is a couple of resistence movers for ya, HA!
These two clowns call us the “axis of evil”. When is the U.S. goin to wake up. This is a disaster at it’s best and we thought 9/11 was terrible. We had better shut down or get tough at our borders, because if terrorist haven’t already been moving through venezuela into central america, then up into and through mexico they will.

Like everybody has been saying, it’s not if they will hit us again it’s when.
And that could be very soon. And now that Iran has proclaimd itself as nuclear power, who’s to say that they haven’t already moved something into this country.

The movie “Sum of all Fears” is not to far from becoming reality.
The american people need to be demanding that our government do something about our borders, instead of giving illegals amnesty and be given all the benefits that americans have and other immigrants who have earned the right to be called american.

I know this doesn’t sound very Christ like, but these two need to be taken out big time. They are both terrorists and they need to be dealt with as terrorists.

No, that doesn’t sound very Christ like.

I find that when I verbalize comments in that vein that there is only one reason why. I am not loving Jesus with all my heart, soul and strength. It happens far too often to me for my liking.

Philippians 2:12
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Luke 6: 35
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

John 18:36
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Ephesians 2
1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

scott,
sadly, i do not think that america is going to wake up… america has grown prosperous and fat, comfortable and idle; the people rise only to seek their own pleasures before returning to slumber…

i hate to sound pessimistic… but, i don’t think it’s going to change… 9/11 was a wake up call, and america stirred for a bit, but now it looks as if she’s gone back to sleep…

the “liberal left” is under the false impression that if we just extricate ourselves from iraq and don’t bother anybody, then nobody will bother us… HA…

perhaps, we should engage the terrorists in dialogue and “negotiate” with them… HA, again…

whoever got the crazy idea that terrorists were interested in negotiating with us?

terrorists have one goal – to control the world with their ideology and to eliminate everyone else… the koran says so!

and they will use any means and go to any lengths to accomplish their goal… sadly, the american public does not seem to realize this… and so, most americans would prefer to ignore the problem as they continue to live their life of relative ease…

it’s a frightening scenario… because terrorists are NOT just going to go away…

btw, about chavez calling us “barbarians”… um, we are not the ones beheading people (including innocent civilians) nor do we call for the elimination of a sovereign country and its people group (as did his good buddy, ahmadinejad, who wants to wipe israel off the map)…

we are definitely living in the end times…

shalom,

My Brother Scott

Although the United States is still a fine country, we in Messiah are citizens of a kingdom that is beyond our wildest expectations!

And how right you are, it really is only a matter of when not if, and we as a country have allowed it to happen. The United States has become a nation that defies G_D with arrogance, sacrificing our unborn innocents upon the altar of Molech while supporting every perversion know to mankind.

2Kings 17:17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. ,

Is. 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Sadly most of the churches have fallen away as well, not enduring sound Doctrine.

Jer. 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

It is also only a matter of when, not if, that our Bridegroom cometh and we are called up for the wedding feast!

We must hold on to our faith while calling our leaders and the “church” into accountability. Sadly as I understand G_D’s word, there will be no great revival here. But we are called to be salt and light and to stand up for G-d’s Word. For a long time I’ve rejected the Idea that we need a national day of Prayer. What This Country Needs is a National Day of Repentance, where falling on our faces we cry out to G_D to forgive this nation for it blasphemy.

My Dear Sister

The following link shows what happens in a “civilized” country like Venezuela from a “cultured” dictator like Hugo Chavez.

A Brief Synopsis:

Venezuelan journalist reports mysterious car fire, threats

Roger Santodomingo resigned this week as editor of the Web site Noticiero Digital, citing threats. The press freedom group Reporters Without Borders said in a statement that Santodomingo became “the target of a smear campaign” and that he also received threats against his young son.

Remnant wonders if Danny Glover is proud of his friend Hollywood Hugo and condones this action against free speech?

This is one of many “civilized” actions taken by Chavez, in instilling his socialist (read personal fiefdom) government. Like the failure he admires in Cuba no matter how much oil money he has it will never trickle down to the people he rules. Socialism is nothing but “ponzi scheme” that has collapsed everywhere it has been practiced!

It appears to me that quite a few posters on these thread have equated the USA with Christianity. Muddled theories resting on such ideas as:

Our founding fathers set this up as a Christian nation or,
God has called the US to lead the world to Jesus or…????

Nothing could be further from the truth. The Bible teaches us that individuals are saved….not nations. God desires a personal one on one rescue of each of us from our individual sins.

Those of you that believe the US is a righteous country doing God’s will might want to research a bit on the School of the Americas, in which out very own government has taught and still continues to teach forces from nations around the world. South American death squads are a by product of this evil effort. Testimony by Christians, even pastors and ministers, who were victims of these heinous acts have testified extensively before Congress of the death and torture inflicted throughout Central and South America. John Negroponte comes to mind as a good starting point. This is not “left wing” media. These people are Christians testifying before our own government leaders.

It’s not hard to find out the facts regarding our countries evil aspirations. Just to be clear, I am NOT defending muslim extremists. All nations are inherently evil simply because they are of the world. I am saddened that anyone would think that being a citizen of one nation out of hundreds that have existed through out time would somehow give that person some special privilege before God.

12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

A simple examination of our nations history will show that we have been engaged in war virtually every year since this nation was founded. The Civil War pitted brother against brother. Was this conforming to the scriptures?

there are some countries whose citizens do more to spread the Gospel than others.

Dave
In another thread you wrote::

There is no difference between communists, fascists, capitalists, socialists, etc. The main intent(and end) of all worldly governments is, in the end …worldly.

This is a perfect description of the Hegelian Dialectic and when christians become entangled in the affairs of this world they to fall into the Dialectic as well and are endangered in becoming worldly as well.

We are of the Kingdom of G_D and not of this world only in it.
