A man went on a shooting rampage on Thursday, killing his former girlfriend in an apartment and four of her co-workers at a nearby shopping mall before turning his gun on himself, the police said.

The police said one woman and three men were fatally shot Thursday morning at the Sello mall, where thousands of shoppers were on hand. All five victims were employees of the Prisma grocery store in the mall, which is in Espoo, about six miles west of Helsinki. The gunman was identified as Ibrahim Shkupolli, above, a 43-year-old immigrant from the former Serbian province of Kosovo.
