20 Beheaded Bodies Found in Iraq

Bodies Found Southeast of Baghdad, Iraqi Police Say

”And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
—Gen 6:5

”The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
—Genesis 6:11

Twenty beheaded bodies were discovered Thursday on the banks of the Tigris River southeast of Baghdad and a car bomb killed another 20 people in one of the capital’s busy outdoor bus stations, police said.

The beheaded remains were found in the Sunni Muslim village of Um al-Abeed, near the city of Salman Pak, which lies 14 miles southeast of Baghdad.

The bodies all men aged 20 to 40 had their hands and legs bound, and some of the heads were found next to the bodies, two officers said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.

The victims’ identities were unknown, but they were found in an area where Shiite travelers have been kidnapped and killed in the past, en route to the Shiite-dominated provinces of Wasit, Maysan and Basra.

A bomb in a parked car ripped through a crowded transport hub in southwest Baghdad’s Baiyaa neighborhood at morning rush hour, killing at least 20 people and wounding more than 50, another officer said on the same condition.

Many of the victims had been lining up for buses, awaiting a ride to work. Some 40 minibuses were incinerated, police said.

Baiyaa is a mixed area with a Shiite majority, but it is also the main commercial center of a Sunni-dominated part of Baghdad on the west bank of the Tigris River. It is one of a string of neighborhoods just south of the main road to Baghdad International Airport where sectarian tensions have been running high.

AP Television News video showed a square strewn with smoldering car parts and charred bodies with clothes in tatters. Bystanders, some weeping, gingerly loaded human remains into ambulances.

A pickup truck rumbled slowly away from the scene, with two pairs of legs the dead bodies of victims dangling out of the back.

One of the police officers who gave information about the ghastly discovery of bodies southeast of Baghdad is based at Interior Ministry headquarters in the capital, and the other is based in Kut, 100 miles southeast of Baghdad.

Sporadic clashes had been under way in the Salman Pak area for several days, between Interior Ministry commandos and suspected insurgents, the Kut officer said. It was unclear whether the discovery of the bodies was related to the recent fighting.

Salman Pak and its surrounding area has been the focus of new U.S. military operations to oust suspected al-Qaida fighters from the Baghdad’s outskirts. American forces launched a drive into Salman Pak and neighboring Arab Jabour two weeks ago.

At the time, ground forces commander Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno said U.S. troops were heading into those areas in force for the first time in three years.

In other violence Thursday, three mortar rounds slammed into a popular shopping district in central Baghdad, killing three pedestrians, police said. The attack damaged shops in the Shorja market area and wounded 14 people, an officer said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to media.

Mortars also fell early Thursday in eastern Baghdad’s al-Amin neighborhood, killing two civilians and wounding four others, police said.

It was unclear whether the mortars were aimed at the Shorja shopping area, or whether they fell short of an intended target. In recent months, tall security barriers have been built around popular marketplaces in Baghdad, preventing car bombers from entering. However, mortars can be lobbed over such blast walls.

Later Thursday, at least one mortar or rocket targeted the U.S.-guarded Green Zone, sending a huge blast echoing across central Baghdad. There was no immediate word on any casualties.

A car bomb exploded at a fuel station Thursday afternoon in western Baghdad’s Mansour neighborhood, killing one person and wounding three others, police said. The victims had been lining up to buy fuel, they said.

In Nasiriyah, about 200 miles southeast of Baghdad, local police said two suspected militants were killed early Thursday when the bomb they were planting near a house of a U.S. translator detonated prematurely.

Also Thursday, the British military said three British soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb in southern Iraq.

The bomb exploded near the soldiers’ vehicle late Wednesday southeast of Basra, Iraq’s second-largest city, the military said in a statement. Another soldier was wounded in the blast and remains in stable condition at a military hospital, it said.

The death raised to at least 154 the number of British troops killed in Iraq since the war began in March 2003.

Britain has withdrawn hundreds of troops from Iraq, leaving a force of around 5,500 based mainly on the fringes of Basra, 340 miles southeast of Baghdad. The U.S. currently has about 155,000 troops in Iraq.

On Wednesday, outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair said his country would withdraw even more troops within weeks, but he refused to set a more specific timetable.

in light of hugo chavez calling us “barbarians”, i thought i would show all the internet readers out there in cyberspace what a real “barbarian” looks like…

this is not for the squeamish or faint of heart… heck, this ain’t even for folks who’ve got rock gut…

this is a video of the actual beheading of an american civilian (eugene armstrong) by islamic terrorists… this was reported back in 2004 and was covered by cnn, bbc, nbc, and others…

to see what a real “barbarian” looks like, go to: http://www.warriorsfortruth.com/beheading-video-eugene-armstrong.html or just google “eugene armstrong”… even if you don’t watch the video, there is some good information about the islamic religious practice of beheading, which dates back to the 7th century and is sanctioned by islamic texts…

while these “barbarians” are beheading the civilian (eugene armstrong), they are shouting “allah is great!”… and while reading their statement, they declare, “killing for the sake of God is their best wish”… and “cutting the heads of criminal infidels is implementing the orders of our lord”…

where do they get these ideas?… FROM THEIR RELIGION and from the koran (sura 47:4) and other islamic texts…

warriors for truth is a conservative independent news group… but if you google “american beheaded in iraq”, you will see the same video posted by cnn, bbc, nbc, and other news groups… and obviously, iraq is not the only place where beheading is practiced… daniel pearl (pakistan) and paul johnson (saudi arabia) are just two examples…

these “barbarians” have beheaded thousands in the name of “allah”… military and civilian (makes no difference to them)… their goal is to wipe out every “infidel”… starting with Israel and moving west (america is #2 on their list)…

    so you decide…
    who are the real “barbarians”?

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Messiah

Jen -o thanks for sharing the link. You are right on the money, the goal of peaceful Islam is to conquer the world for their arabian moon god allah. Their tactics are despicable and hence the title the religion of the sword.

While I agree that we must be aware of the real reports of beheadings And G_D knows that there are enough of them along well as other atrocities. It now appears that the story was completely false and fabricated by unknown sources,. Both the AP and Reuters have issued retractions on June 30th. (see links below

The military has said in a statement. “Coalition and Iraqi officials began investigating to determine if the reports were true. Ultimately it was concluded the reports were false,”

The U.S. military also issued a statement saying it had investigated the reports of the bodies and ultimately found them to be false. They may have been planted by insurgents to provoke revenge attacks, the U.S. military said on Saturday.

“(Insurgents) are known for purposefully providing false information to the media to incite violence and revenge killings, and they may well have been the source of this misinformation,” the military said.

As we all know Islam has never been concerned with the truth (read the Koran, it is the only “holy’ book that I’m aware of, that condones lying,), we as believers in Yeshua must be vigilant in maintaining truthful reporting of events, or risk tweaking the Gospel.

thanks for posting those three links and letting us know about the retraction of the story about the 20 men who were beheaded…

i think this says more about the mainstream media than it does about islamic beheadings… (as far as i know, there has been no retraction about the beheading of eugene armstrong or the authenticity of the video)… my question is – why is the mainstream media so quick to report the beheadings of 20 men in salman pak from ANONYMOUS sources, and yet refuses to report the massacre of 14 men, women, and children in al hamira from a NAMED source who is a noted combat correspondent, i.e. Michael Yon… according to the first link you posted, mr. yon accompanied troops on a sweep through the village of al hamira, and after finding no civilians in the village, discovered a mass grave containing the 14 men, women, and children… according to yon, the children were beheaded… and he offered his photographs and account (for free) to the associated press, but they turned him down… my question is: why?… why is the associated press not interested in taking a look at a named and noted independent combat correspondent’s first hand experience when they are so quick to report information from anonymous sources??

well, this just goes to show that you can’t trust the mainstream media…

  4. Remnant, 08 July, 2007

    Dear Jen -O

After reading my post I understand how my statement could be misunderstood. The beheading of Eugene Armstrong and the authenticity of the video showing it have never been questioned. If I gave that impression please forgive me, it was certainly not my intention.

I should have stated in the beginning that the story being retracted was in fact, the abc news article “20 Beheaded Bodies Found in Iraq” posted here on June 28th, 2007.

The point I was trying to get across was in the fifth and sixth paragraphs.

The reason we cannot trust mainstream media is in part financial, be the first to get the headline, being accurate isn’t even important.

I remember when President Reagan was shot, it was announced (I believe by David Brinkley) live on a Major Television Network that he had died, a few minutes later that was retracted. In the Bush/Gore election before the polls closed on the west coast the news claimed Gore had carried Florida that later was retracted. Here in Arizona It was reported that Eddie Basha had won the election for Governor, in reality Fife Symington had won. These are but a few instances where important news was reported as breaking news before the facts were really known.

Another is the agenda of the Media itself. how often do we read of the plight of the poor displaced Palestinians (those who’ve quit being lazy and have actually done the research, realize that there’s no such thing as Palestinians anyway. The real original occupiers of the land were Canaanites and they are not displaced they are deceased.) most of what mainstream media reports on the Middle East is slanted or untrue, but we see in the papers and hear it on the news every day.

In all things we must be Bereans!

  5. jen-o, 08 July, 2007

    dear remnant,
not a problem… i understood what you were saying… the mainstream media really has no oversight/accountability… in their scramble for a story, they will use “anonymous” sources (including insurgents) without bothering to verify the facts and information before publication… when i was a kid, my father use to tell me that when i read the newspaper, i need to read between the lines… LOL… but, how true!… mainstream media has their own agenda, not the least of which is money…

you are right: we need to be bereans in all things… the media is not all that trustworthy… but we put our trust in the Lord Jesus… at least, we don’t have to read between the lines when we read the bible…

  6. Scott L., 08 July, 2007

After much curiosity, I found out by watching this video that this was not a case of barbarism of the beheading of Eugene Armstrong.
But a sincere act of cold blooded, heartless evil with no respect of human life or dignity, with no mercy whatso ever. And even more, to video tape this so that cyberspace and news outlets could view this, was truly disheartening.

To all of you who want to quote scripture at me for not being Christ like for what I’m about to say and this includes you brother Dave Lucas.

The only good muslim is a “BORN AGAIN” bible believing convert saved by the blood of the lamb. I have nothing but hatred in my heart for the act I witnessed, and yes for the worthless pieces of flesh that carried out this sickening evil act. Even as a beleiver it would be very hard for me in a time of war not to enact vengance against these type of men. But this is why we went to war. It’s not President Bush’s war it’s Americas war. WE were attcked on 9/11 by these same kind of sub-humans, and they are the same ones that are out to kill us and Isreal.

Yes, I believe we have accomplished our mission in Iraq, we took out saddam. Anytime God told Isreal to go and take out thier enemies, he did not say to help them re-build. They went, they saw, they killed, they conquered, and they left and not even the woman and children lived. But we go the extra 2 miles for our enemy, we feed, we cloth, we give water, we educate, we help build infrastructure, and we bring humanity and we are called “barbarians” “axis of evil” “the great satan”.

This video just brings out the reality of who we are fighting and the true evil that exsists in our world today, and it does not exclude what goes on in our nation.

    “W A R N I N G”

  7. Lance Gilman, 08 July, 2007

We all know the news media outlets are siding with their own political agendas, whether they be for or against the war. What frustrates me is they rarely recognize that the people waging war against our western democratic way of life will not quit even if we leave Iraq or Afghanistan. If they would get the facts straight, at least the truth could be broadcast and talked about. Hard to find the truth in the major news networks.

It is the goal of Jihad to set up an Islamic world government. Period. They plan to attack America again whether we are in Iraq or not.

Personally, I think we’re there until the LORD comes back.

If not Iraq, we’ll be headed for Iran next. I will support that too.
We are making the case for it now. Iran supplying all those weapons to the insurgents, watch out Ayatollah! I guess it’s payback time for the US arming Saddam during the Iran / Iraq war. Crazy! How all that stuff goes round and round?

I pray that GOD will continue to protect us from terrorism and bring us a leader in 2008 that will continue to fight boldly against such an enemy, as well as, support Israel.

  8. Linda, 09 July, 2007

The only good ‘anybody’ is a “BORN AGAIN” bible believing convert saved by the blood of the lamb!!
The LORD has put a mighty mantle of a warrior on you for HIS church & your country, don’t be apologetic about it; & at the same time, those who have not been blessed with this mantle don’t have a clue just how deep it runs, so “consider the source!” Just like the Jews do not yet understand Jesus; many folks don’t understand how our fighting heroes can continue to keep going back 3 & 4 times to Iraq; or why they volunteer for the military in the first place. One can see that this mantle has been put on entire military families~sons, fathers, uncles, etc.
Our country owes a debt of gratitude to all our warriors, both past & present.
My dad served in WWII & the only thing he would ever say about it was “Make sure the war is fought over ‘there’ & not on our own soil.”
So I pray that GOD will see to it that our next president will be hawkish & GOD-fearing, in Jesus name, amen.

  9. Remnant, 09 July, 2007

    Dear Scott

While I agree with a lot of your view points:

When you wrote: “I found out by watching this video that this was not a case of barbarism of the beheading of Eugene Armstrong.

But a sincere act of cold blooded, heartless evil with no respect of human life or dignity, with no mercy what so ever. And even more, to video tape this so that cyberspace and news outlets could view this, was truly disheartening.”

Welcome to Islam brother. This is the true result of not submitting to the “religion called or translated into english as submission and of not following this “peaceful religion”! Our news media shows islam in a false sense, they believe the lie and condemn Israel. While in truth the religion of the sword insists that infidels will either convert, pay tribute, or die.

I believe that every politician, every member of a church who supports the bogus claims of Islam being the peaceful religion, those who support the false claims of the palestinians, should be required to watch the video as this is what they are indeed promoting and supporting and heading for themselves. The people doing the beheading were not terrorists they were followers of the koran and the teachings of mohammod.

Several years age G_D placed upon my heart the salvation of the Jews and also the descendants of Ishmael. Read G_D’s promise to Hagar as well as his description of Ishmael. While not chosen of G_D for the blessing and covenant with Abraham and his descendants through Sarah, these people are just as much the creation of G_D as you and I are. G_D commanded us to love one another, he didn’t tell us we had to like it, just to do it. As my arms are just too short to box with G_D I try to do as he commanded, I grumble at times but then do it.

Here in Phoenix, the home to 50,000 followers of Islam I have had many opportunities
to share the Gospel with both Jews and Islamist’s, I know in some cases the people I shared Yeshua with, would just as soon as put a grenade in my skivvies while they smiled and called me friend, all the time looking for the right place on my neck to strike with the sword.

The big problem is that most followers of Islam are like many self professed Christians they don’t read and study the book, be it koran or Bible and don’t really know what they say. If they did there would be a mass exodus from Islam and a strong repentance of all those psudo-christians

Should we become preemptive and start attacking the mosques here in Arizona or did Yeshua teach us to hate the sin not the sinner? I once shared as much hatred for the enemies of mine in the “Nam” calling them every vile name and slang term there was. This then slipped into my view of all Vietnamese and I carried that with me for years. When I got saved It was a real shock that the quote “kill a Commie for Christ” was not in the Bible, but feed and give water to your enemies was.

Prov. 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
Prov. 25:22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

Rom. 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

    Matt. 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Scottt I am not preaching to you just sharing, I don’t like the perpetrators of this out- rage anymore that you do. I’m angry at the ism be it islamism, catholicism, mormonism, communism, protestantism, hinduism, new ageism, 12 stepism, calvenism, wesleyism, methodism, etc. what ever the lie of Satan is, those who are duped into worshiping these ism’s are doomed to burn!

As Dave Lucus said we need to throw the lifesaver of Salvation through the Messiah to them no matter who they are and let them make the choice to sink or swim.

Also thanks for the prayers from all on this site I had another small stroke on Friday, and then a Major blow out Sunday. As you can see I’m up and running by the grace of G_D, these are attacks of the enemy as we are preparing to launch a ministry to the descendants of both the sons of Abraham. Our G-D is stronger than any enemy and no weapon formed against me shall prosper!

    how true!!
i suppose this is what we refer to as “moderate” muslims and “lukewarm” christians… neither one of these groups really reads and studies the book upon which their “faith” is based… both groups desperately need to hear the gospel of Truth…

those who do adhere to the book of their “faith” are called “radicals”… radical muslims want to wage the war of “holy jihad” to eliminate all infidels… while radical christians might knock on your door to share Jesus…

I understand what your saying. And yes, I agree with what your saying about God blessing Hagar and Ishmael.
But then again Cain out of jealousy murdered his brother for what?
He could have been blessed by God the same, if he were to have shown God the same kind of love and obiediance as Abel.

And I can agree with Dave on what scriptures say about “being in this world but not beeing of it”. But am I to isolate myself from the affairs of the things that go on in my nation and government and to be so heavenly minded that I’m no earthly good?. I can’t do that! I’m the type that has to confront wrong, to stand up for whats right, and to not let anybody be bullied.
Even though I hate the lifestyle of homosexuality, I would have protect that person if they were being beaten or violated in any way. And yes I would probably do the same for a muslim. And from a Navy Seal team commander that taught me the same thing “you don’t have to like it, you just have to do it,” and that includes to love your enemies no matter what.

I know I couldn’t do it if it weren’t for the Holy Spirit dwelling inside and the love of Jesus creating a new me in him.

But like Peter, I tend to go off In the “flesh” (LOL! LOL!) sometimes and let the things of this world get he best of me. I’m just so glad that God believes in lost causes, or else we’d all be lost.

Thanks Remnant. I do appreciate your words of wisdom.
we’ll still be prayin for ya.

And thanks to all who post. I may not understand evrything you say, but I do enjoy your comments, like-em or not, this sight is a good outlet for me.

    Love in Christ to all.

LOL! LOL! It was better to say that, then the other phrase.

    You are aboslutley right!. Amen!

You are very fortunate to have your foundation built on the rock during this health crisis you are currently experiencing. God bless you brother. I hope to see you in heaven one day.

Here is a story for you. many years ago I was in the Shiloh ministry which our brother John was used mightily in. i lived in reno and we used to go about sharing the gospel. One day some of us went to a long term care facility to “help” and share. I think I was with a brother named randy Holmes that day but I can’t rember for sure. In any case, we went into a room to visit a teenage girl that was probably about 18 or 19 years old. She was strapped down to the bed on her back. She has a nerve disease that caused her arms and legs to rotate wildly about and she had no control, thus the straps. She had been that way for many years. Our sharing of the gospel was cut short when she told us that she knew Jesus. As it turned out, she knew him very well. In fact, I think she knew Jesus better than anyone I have ever met since. All she had in life that was of a physical nature was removed. So she just spent all day and all night communing in the spirit with Jesus. When i looked into her eyes it was what i imagine the Israelites saw when Moses had to cover his face with a veil. The light of Jesus was not mythical. Her eyes looked to be on fire with love. I felt like a scum sinner after we left her. I realized then as I do now that total commitment to Jesus is something most of us only dream about. Most believers fake the power of God. Paul had it, Peter had it, this girl had it. The power to walk in the Spirit of God….not see it, but walk in it. Big difference.

  14. Remnant, 10 July, 2007

    Dear Scott

So was being Jealous the reason Cain killed Abel or was it Cans anger with G_D?
    Just a thought.

By all means always stand up for what the word of G_D says, but you don’t need political ties or affiliations to be righteous against wrong doing. We had Bush vs Kerry but they are both Skull and Bones and are really the same. Study the Hegelian Dialectic and don’t fall into its trap!

I was, at one time like Peter, I had my sword and was going for more than ears, then G_d showed me I was in danger of becoming self righteous. For a long time my wonderful wife had to not only put up with me, but edit my letters and editorials as well.

Anyway, is it Semper Fi or Hoo Yah!

Thanks to all for their Prayers
