Following its defeat by state lawmakers, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was able to enact the primary provisions of a proposed religious freedom bill through an executive order this week. Failed state House Bill 707 would have given business owners some legal protection against government retaliation based on their views on ‘gay’ marriage.

In announcing the executive action, Jindal shared some thoughts about the House Civil Law and Procedure Committee’s vote to kill the bill.
