Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives at the UN food summit in Rome
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, has used his first trip to Western Europe to launch a new attack against Jews.

“Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.”
—Eze 34:28

Arriving in Rome for a United Nations summit, Mr Ahmadinejad said: “The people of Europe have suffered the most harm from Zionists and today the costs of that falsified regime, whether political or economic, are on Europe’s shoulders.”

He added: “I do not believe my statements [at the conference] will cause any problems. People love what I say because they are trying to save themselves from the oppression of Zionists.”

Mr Ahmadinejad visited both Belarus and New York last year, but this is his first trip to a major European nation. Italy has refused to hold any talks with him, but was powerless to deny him entry because of United Nations rules regarding the summit.

“In the name of God, I love the Italian people, who are so rich with civilisation and history. Our two people have much shared history,” he said.

Hundreds of Roman Jews protested against his presence outside the Colosseum.

Around 40 heads-of-state attended the first day of the Food Summit in Rome and Mr Ahmadinejad was due to be given the opportunity to address them and to hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe, was also due to get the opportunity to make a speech on Tuesday afternoon and could use the opportunity to lambast the West. At a previous UN food summit, in 2005, Mr Mugabe labelled the United States and Britain as “terrorists”.

His wife Grace, who, at 42, is half his age, accompanied him to the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation where the summit is taking place. Instead of her customary shopping trip, she is expected to attend a lunch inside the building for the wives of the heads of state.

Neither Mr Ahmadinejad or Mr Mugabe have been invited to a banquet this evening at Villa Madama for the other heads of state. The dinner is being hosted by Silvio Berlusconi and Ban Ki Moon, the secretary general of the UN. To avoid the embarrassment of not gaining entry, Mr Ahmadinejad will leave Rome this afternoon.

As the summit kicked off, the head of the United Nations called for farming to increase by 50 per cent by 2030. Jacques Diouf, the head of the FAO, warned leaders that the amount of money spent on food aid for the third world had more than halved in real terms from £4 billion in 1980 to £1.7 billion in 2004.

“Resources to finance agricultural programmes in developing countries are decreasing, not rising,” he said. He said his attempt to draw attention to the problem last December, and to ask for £800 million in grants for fertilizer and seed in the third world, had been ignored.

He also criticised the emphasis placed by Western countries on global warming but the lack of attention to food. “Nobody understands how a carbon market of $64 billion can be created in developed countries to offset global warming, but that no funds can be found to prevent the annual deforestation of 13 million hectares.

“Nobody understands how $11 billion to $12 billion a year subsidies in 2006 have had the effect of diverting 100 million tonnes of cereals from human consumption, mostly to satisfy a thirst for fuel for vehicles,” he said.

He called for the world to find £15 billion a year to give 862 million hungry people the right to food.

More Mahmoud Madness

The most bizarre part of this story is where it took place, the UN food summit!

While the heads of the summit are calling for an increase in food production, lets look at what Israel brings, literally to the worlds tables:

Israel produces 95 percent of its own food requirements, supplemented by imports of grain, oil seeds, meat, coffee, cocoa and sugar, which are more than offset by a wide range of agricultural products for export.

Israel’s Agricultural Exports: Total: $590 million:

When Jews began resettling their historic homeland in the late 19th century, their first efforts were directed towards reclaiming the land, mostly semi-arid, while much of the rest had been rendered untillable by deforestation, soil erosion and neglect. Rocky fields were cleared, and terraces built in the hilly regions; swampland was drained, and systematic reforestation begun; erosion of the loess soil of the coastal plain and the south was counteracted, and salty land washed to reduce soil salinity.

Since Israel attained its independence (1948), the total area under cultivation has increased from 408,000 acres (165,000 ha.) to some 1.07 million acres (435,000 ha.), and the number of agricultural communities has grown from 400 to 725. During the same period, agricultural production has expanded 16-fold, more than three times the population growth.

Iran on the other hand, literally, take’s from the worlds table:

The 1979 Revolution sought self-sufficiency in foodstuffs as part of its overall goal of decreased economic dependence on the West. Higher government subsidies for grain and other staples and expanded short- term credit and tax exemptions for farmers complying with government quotas were intended by the new regime to promote self-sufficiency. But by early 1987, Iran was actually more dependent on agricultural imports than in the 1970s.

Ahmadinejad is dangerous, a liar, a clown, and one of Satan’s puppets, he constsntly calls evil good and good evil, His comments prove that “In politics stupidity is not a handicap.” (Napoleon Bonaparte)

First of all, since Italy had no say about terrorists attending this meeting, then the heads of states should stand up & walk out when Imabadjihad & Mugabe speak.

Secondly, thanks once again, Remnant, for clearly putting all the facts out on the table.

Don’t cover up history. Wasn’t PM Begin began his career as a terrorist? Weren’t the Israelis terrorists against the occupying force of the British in 1930s & early 1940s?

miqdaad,

where are you getting your information from??

Miqdaad says Comment posted on July 09th, 2008

jen-o … just google [Begin, Irgun]

Miqdaad, if you truly took the time to Google that, and read the information with an open mind you would have to admit that there is ABSOLUTELY no comparison between what Begin did and what Hamas and the PLO have done and are doing to this day.

For example, the Irgun was only formed after the British reneged on their agreement to set up a Jewish state (see the term White Paper). In addition the so called “terrorist” activities for Begin and Irgun were never intended to hurt or kill anyone, but merely to damage the infastructure of the British and to encourage them to live up to their promises.

For example one of the most famous “so called terrorist attacks” was the attack on a government office containing records of the Jews in the Mandate. It was guarded by an Arab police officer. He was lured away by a Jewish couple who became “very romantic” nearby. The officer wanted a closer look and moved nearer to watch the couple. While the couple was distracting the officer, Irgun placed explosives in the building and when the officer was far enough away not to be injured, the operatives set off the explosion.

The other most famous “terrorist act” was the attack on the King David hotel. It must be noted that there was never any intention that anyone would be hurt. Numerous calls were made to the British telling them exactly when the explosions would occur, but the British felt so superior that they blew the warnings off as a hoax. Because the British did not heed the warnings of the Irgun, the bomb detonated, and 91 people died. Again, the British were warned. No “terrorist” warns his victims.

Because of the leadership of men like Begin, Israel was able to become a free nation as was promised to them.

Freedom is not free, a fact that we in this country learned many years ago and may soon discover again.

Phil, freedom is definitely not free. Palestinians, Kashmiris, Chechens, Iraqis, Afghanis would do the same … Now try do explain these: Deir Yassin and Shabra & Shatilla.

phil says Comment posted on July 14th, 2008

Miqdaad, I am not here to try to explain every incident in history that you “pull out of your hat”. You brought up Begin and I pointed out why he was not a “terrorist” in the same sense as the PLO & Hamas etc.

These facts are available for anyone to verify, as opposed to your vague statements about Palestinians, Kashmiris, Chechens, Iraqis etc. As if the Iraqis were “free” under Sadam!

Freedom of speech is a good thing. However, if you must talk, be nice, don't use inappropriate language, and if you have criticism, keep it constructive. Thanks!
