Friday, November 30th, 2007Past efforts at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have failed for multiple reasons, chief among them the issue of Jerusalem. And while the leaders gathering in Annapolis have agreed not to agree about the holy city’s fate for now, it will likely be the unbridgeable divide in the follow-up negotiations. As Madeleine K. Albright noted, “If Jerusalem were just a real estate issue, we could have dealt with it long ago.” Jerusalem is hardly a real estate issue. It is at the heart of the Israel-Arab impasse, for it relates fundamentally to history, theology and national identity.

Anti-Semitism and the Left that Doesn’t Learn
Friday, November 30th, 2007A DETERMINED offensive is underway. Its target is in the Middle East, and it is an old target: the legitimacy of Israel. Hezbollah and Hamas are not the protagonists, the contested terrains are not the Galilee and southern Lebanon or southern Israel and Gaza. The means are not military. The offensive comes from within parts of the liberal and left intelligentsia in the United States and Europe. It has nothing to do with this or that negotiation between Israelis and Palestinians, and it has nothing to do with any particular Israeli policy. After all, this or that Israeli policy may be chastised, rightly or wrongly, without denying the legitimacy of the Jewish state, just as you can criticize an Israeli policy—again, rightly or wrongly—without being an anti-Semite. You can oppose all Israeli settlements in the occupied territories (as I do) and you can also recognize that Benjamin Netanyahu, not just Yasir Arafat, was responsible for undermining the Oslo peace process without being an anti-Semite or anti-Zionist. You don’t have to be an anti-Semite or anti-Zionist to think that some American Jewish organizations pander to American or Israeli right-wingers.

Israeli says elusive bibical wall found
Thursday, November 29th, 2007JERUSALEM – A biblical wall that has eluded archaeologists for years has finally been found, according to an Israeli scholar. A team of archaeologists in Jerusalem has uncovered what they believe to be part of a wall mentioned in the Bible’s Book of Nehemiah.

Strong Earthquake Shakes Trinidad Causes Structural Damages to Many Buildings
Thursday, November 29th, 2007Trinidad – A strong earthquake shook Trinidad just about 2:58 pm local time, damaging several buildings, officials and residents said. No injuries or damage have reported yet to people but due to the powerful earthquake people are in state of Shock. Many expressed fears as the earth quake one of the powerful in the country’s eathquake history in recent times.
